After conquering the market of mini quadcopters, Chinese manufacturers are trying to turning out something new: hexacopters. WLtoys dares to be the first ,thus, the newly-released WLtoys Q282G FPV hexacopter becomes the world’s first micro hexacopter with 5.8Ghz transmission.
Clearly, the design looks very cool and shiny, featuring a lot of LEDs on the bottom and front, like bright blue eyes in the darkness. It even has different colored propellers for the front and a set of spare props should you break one.
Due to its size(13.7 x 13 x 5cm), this guy can truly fly at anytime and anywhere. Of course, other mini drones can also perform the normal movements and 3D flip, the difference is this little hexacopter has much greater stability, thus providing safer flight and better aerial photography. Meanwhile, it also possesses such nice features as headless mode and one-key return.
Obviously, the drone itself looks very much like the Q272, but the difference is the FPV function. It has a built-in 2MP camera to capture pictures and record videos. Nothing special but with a 4GB micro SD card, so there is nothing extra to buy to get this going. Just upload the images to computer and then share online. In this sense, the Q282G is more expensive than the Q272 but still a decently priced FPV hexacopter at $95.
Unlike most of small-sized ones(Hubsan’s X4 H107D is an exception), the full scale remote controller is very comfortable to hold and easy to operate. The transmitter has a long range of 80m so you are able to get some really cool shots from high altitude. Also, it has a monitor on-board, so you don’t have to spend extra cash to get an FPV monitor.
To put it simply, this WLtoys Q282G FPV micro hexacopter will surely excite your feeling!!
After achieving a great success of the JJRC H8 in 2014, this year the JJRC is trying for another win. This newly-released JJRC H22 is born at the right moment. Does this thing have any particular strengths?
As advertised, the H22 is mainly characterized by its inverted flights, which means it can fly up side down, thus easily getting you excited and capturing the attention of the crowd. Just awesome once you made it!! Of course, other normal movements such as: up/down, forward/ backward, turn left/ right, 3D flip, hovering etc., are simply a piece of cake. Another great feature is its extremely attractive lower price around $20.
Also, like other quality quads of its kind, it’s worth mentioning that it features headless mode , one key to return, and dual flight speed mode (Low 40% and High 100%). Needless to say, this will make it much easier to control and hard to lose for beginners.
As installed with four guard circles around the blades to avoid crashing, it enables you to just fly boldly. Additionally, the motors are fully wrapped, well stabilized and produces fast rotation, thus providing strong power for flying.
Meanwhile, the H22 comes with a 220mAh battery which offers about 7 minutes of flight time after charging 45 mins, not long enough but still acceptable and good to have fun. Considering its small size(16.8×16.8×9.6cm), it’s more suitable for flying indoors. Theoretically, you can also take it outside under the mild weather.
In simple terms, although not the best in its class, this JJRC H22 still excites my feeling for its novel design and inverted flight. And honest speaking, you just can not beat it for the price. Actually, you get the best bang for the buck here since it really is a good choice among small to mini-sized quads.
The Wltoys quadcopter V686G, the newest quad from Wltoys, is a nice little drone for the money and a great joy to fly. It flies great out of the box, perfect for those who want to get into FPV quad copters. Very clean & stable hover. No trim or recalibrating needed. Very responsive to the control, and is steady when you reset and adjust the gyro’s. Also, the parts are easy to replace if need be. This is not bad for someone starting out or likes to have a FPV flyer. I’m happy with this wltoys quadcopter!
I do like this JJRC V686G. It is an entry level quad to have fun with and does really cool flips, easy to regain control. Also, it’s good in the house, with enough room and on low power (40%). I love the 40/60/80/100 power feature, great for different flying conditions. The stronger the wind, the higher % you use. 40% gives nice stable images.
The V686G can also take a beating in most regards: hit concrete, caught in a tree, lost in tall grass. I even crashed it into the lake , completely submerged. Freaked me out. The lights stayed on and after drying it off , it still runs fine. Great waterproof machine indeed! It also comes with some spare propellers.
Smooth flight, bigger and less jerky and noisy than the Hubsan x4. Various kinds of flying movements: Up & Down, Left & Right, Forward & Backward, Hover nicely. Even cooler is the 3D flips. Surely the Headless mode and Return to Home both work properly. Furthermore, it can actually carry a payload. I pulled the camera out of a “spy” pen and taped it to the bottom and it worked for a 2 camera flight.
The camera/ video aspect is modest. Camera and camcorder images are controlled by the operator with 2 separate buttons. Turn on/off all flight long. Images are good quality for the resolution.
FPV also works great. I see it at 300 ft. If it doesn’t work for you, check to see if there are nearby power lines. Remote distance is approx. 150m while FPV transmission range is about 100m. The included 4G memory card is good for data storage!
For my part, I get about 8 minutes of flight time due to the 3.7V / 780mAh Lipo battery.
